Legally Friends
Legally Friends is the weekly podcast where brother-in-law Zach and sisters-in-law Emily and Amy get real about what it's actually like to be family by law. From navigating family vacations and sibling rivalries to dissecting celebrity drama through a family lens, no topic is off limits. Each episode features their signature "Judge & Jury" segment where they give their verdicts on listener-submitted in-law dilemmas — think mother-in-laws who wear white to weddings, husbands who vacation solo with their moms, and everything in between. It's funny, honest, and surprisingly relatable. New episodes drop weekly on Sunday evening.

A $218,000 Christmas Wish?!
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Amy bought a truck. The Christmas list is where things get expensive.
What starts as a debate about sending gift links turns into a tractor search—and a $218,000 price that gives Zach a much cheaper idea: a rake.
This week, Zach and Amy debate surprise gifts versus wish lists, whether watching ahead in a shared show counts as betrayal, and why picturing a red apple is apparently not the same experience for everyone. Amy has thoughts on Lioness and Fourth Wing; Zach tries to sell her on Ted Lasso.
Plus: Zach catches himself becoming a sports dad, Amy gets ready for her first barrel race, and the two explain the family sarcasm listeners keep asking about.
Are you team “send me the link” or team “surprise me”?

Wow, of course that's the start. You know how like some uh songs will have like an intro sound? Like, you know, Lil Wayne was like always the sparking of like, you know, lighting, you know what?
SPEAKER_01I didn't know that, but I know Jason Darillo is also in Jason Darillo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so Little Wayne's is always like the spark one. Ours would be the Diet Coke can opening. I think that's appropriate. Well, welcome back to Legally Friends. I am Zach, and I'm the co-host with Amy, my sister-in-law. Um, so let's just get right into it again. Last week you came in hot with some confessions.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, I have another confession.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's get to it.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna need to call this like confessions of a shopaholic or something, and that's probably trademarked already, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02This is it's appropriate.
SPEAKER_01I did something. You you know what I did because we sent it in the family. Yeah, I unless you don't read the family. Do you not read the family text?
SPEAKER_02Um, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Um this week it was kind of crazy, so I didn't read as much, but I did Megan told me, and so I went to and looked at it. Um so that was pretty wild.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to share?
SPEAKER_01Or so we bought a truck.
SPEAKER_02Okay, hold on. And the funny thing is, last week I said, oh, you bought a truck, and you you said I was insane. You thought I was so stupid.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I didn't say you were insane for thinking that we could go buy a truck. What I said was insane was the fact that like I could do it on my own. Like, yeah, I could go buy a pair of Louboutons. Michael finds out a month later. But like when you're buying big purchases like a truck or something like that, it's like Yeah, I get you. You can't just like put that on a credit card.
SPEAKER_02I got it. I got it. So keep going with your massive truck purchase.
SPEAKER_01So, okay, it's not massive.
SPEAKER_02And it's pretty massive.
SPEAKER_01It's not even the truck or the chuck.
SPEAKER_02Both.
SPEAKER_01Well, here's the thing. We bought it from Drew. It's Drew's truck. Drew gets a new truck like every two years. He's had this one for like a year. I knew he's like gonna start building because he's like a big truck guy, whatever. I know he's gonna start like looking at his new one because you have to order it and whatever. So last week or two weeks ago, last week, when I was going for my lesson with Doc and Fabby, I needed more than just a raptor. Like a raptor can't pull two horses. I think it I would kill Michael's truck. So Drew was nice enough to let me use his truck. And when I was pulling, I was like, dang, this is like way better than the raptor.
SPEAKER_02The truck's massive. You probably couldn't even feel that you're towing it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like with the raptor, I was like, it is using all of its might, but with the truck, it's like, oh, whatever.
SPEAKER_02Like it's what it's made for.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, yeah. So I don't know how we did it, but somehow Drew and I just convinced Michael and Shannon that we should buy this truck because it's like top of the line.
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_01And you can't you can't even like walk onto the lot and buy that truck for even a reasonable price. So the price we bought it for is like you can't even go walk on a lot and buy a truck for that price that we bought it for.
SPEAKER_02Are you insane? Are you insane?
SPEAKER_01An F350 super duty, super duty platinum. You cannot walk on to a Ford lot and buy that for the price we paid for.
SPEAKER_02Okay, great. No, but you said a truck. You cannot walk on a lot and buy a truck.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I'm saying like comps.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Like you gotta you gotta like look at the comps around, you know.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. Sure, sure. I'm sure you did some research on the comps.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, actually, me and Shannon did because we dropped Michael's truck off because it had some issue with the engine, and Shannon thinks it's because it's been towing horses, which maybe was that, maybe not. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02The Ford guide said when it's towing flabby, it could be a little tough.
SPEAKER_01You're so rude. So we went around and we were just like looking at the stickers on the car lot, and I was like, see? Like even the used cars on Facebook Marketplace from like 2023, they're selling for like over a hundred grand.
SPEAKER_02I feel like this is like girl math in a way, when you're like, oh, C?
SPEAKER_01It kind of is.
SPEAKER_02We're getting it for like free. It's so much higher at the lot, but we're getting a deal. It's free.
SPEAKER_01No, not for free, but just like a really, really good price.
SPEAKER_02It just oh my gosh. It's like you're acting like this is some small like purchase that was crazy. Well, like, how much are you even gonna drive it? That's my thing. Like, you bought this massively nice truck, and it's like you're gonna drive it every once in a while.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so here's here's the thing. So Drew now needs to go buy a new truck, but he is like builds his truck and then he gets it lifted and all souped up, and then he puts new speakers and subs and whatever. So that alone is gonna take a few months at least. And so he's gonna drive the truck because he doesn't have another car, and I right now I need it one to two times a week, and so we just switch cars whenever I need it.
SPEAKER_02So you bought that truck for one to two times a week. Good for you, good for you. That's all I'm gonna say. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I mean Shannon was in a mood. You you gotta catch her on the right mood. So you know that Shannon, when Shannon gets into the moods, there's no stopping that girl.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we know. That's funny.
SPEAKER_01But if she's not in the mood, somehow we got her right in the in a good mood. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think you're probably the best at timing that.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, because I live with her, so I know I know when to stay away and to when to capitalize. Let's just say that.
SPEAKER_02Capitalize is crazy. Just capitalize on your mom's good moods. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You gotta work the system.
SPEAKER_02All right. Well, you got yourself a new truck. Congrats. Um, any other confessions from the week?
SPEAKER_01Um Shannon got me these horsey pajamas.
SPEAKER_02Those are appropriate.
SPEAKER_01I think they're darling.
SPEAKER_02They look great, even though I can't see them at all.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Well, it's just like brown with horsies on it.
SPEAKER_02Nice. Nice.
SPEAKER_01Do you see my arm right there?
SPEAKER_02I see. I see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, any dating? Yeah, that's right. Any dating updates? Going on any dates recently?
SPEAKER_01Are you gonna I do kind of I don't know if I want to say it.
SPEAKER_02Say it. Say it, let's hear it. Come on.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm like really like sometime today. I don't know. Well, I we might we might have to cut it.
SPEAKER_02There's no cutting.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well then I don't know if I can say it.
SPEAKER_02Let's let's use code names. Like, you're really No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_01It's it's not about the names. Because like I could not say a name and he would know exactly like he he would know I'm talking about him.
SPEAKER_02He knows you only talk to him. No So then how would he know? You guys aren't boy No no.
SPEAKER_01We're thinking we're thinking we're thinking of two different people right now.
SPEAKER_02Wait, what? What what what are we talking about?
SPEAKER_01Doc.
SPEAKER_02Doc. Doc. And who's the other one?
SPEAKER_01He doesn't even have a code name. I don't know. We actually need a code name for that.
SPEAKER_02Doc and hear me out. Doc and Langley. Because of her song Langley. Ella Langley.
SPEAKER_01Oh. I'm sitting here thinking Langley, like the CIA headquarters are in Langley, Virginia, or wherever that place is.
SPEAKER_02What? There's no place called Langley, Virginia. Is there? No.
SPEAKER_01The CIA headquarters are are at Langley.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_01I don't know if Langley is a city in Virginia. I think the building is called Langley.
SPEAKER_02Wow, you're right. How do you know that?
SPEAKER_01And I someone once told me that like I'm actually intellectual.
SPEAKER_02Who? Who?
SPEAKER_01Langley told me that.
SPEAKER_02What? I'm so confused. Oh, Langley told you that. Langley! He's Langley said you're intellectual.
SPEAKER_01He was like, wow, you're actually intellectual. And I was like, excuse me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I am. Wait, so you never answered my question. Is Langley, Virginia a place? Or is the building called Langley?
SPEAKER_02Langley, Virginia is a place.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so I actually am intellectual.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, Langley. Um, so wait, wait. Langley or Doc has got your day brightened up. Which one's like kind of the top top dog right now?
SPEAKER_01Well, let me just tell you the story and you can guess who's Okay, okay, okay. So we go on like a date, like 1.5 dates, I would say. And they're great, whatever, like, great. He texts me and he's like, hey, like we should get dinner.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, okay, yeah, let's do it. Then he texts me the morning of the night that we were supposed to get dinner, and he was like, Hey, is there any way that we could reschedule? Wait for the excuse. He goes, My parents are going out of town and they really want to play pickleball tonight.
SPEAKER_02We'll come back to that, but okay. That's not like the worst excuse.
SPEAKER_01He lives with his parents. It's not like it's not like he's there all the time.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's not like he's like living somewhere else.
SPEAKER_01It's not like they live like across the country from each other. Like they live. Okay, no, he doesn't live with his parents. They live five minutes away.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Um, so he was like, Can we go in two days? And I was like, Yep, no worries. Rachel and Emily didn't even want me to respond to him. They were like, don't respond, we're sick of him. So I was like, like, I'm not gonna not respond. So I was like, yeah, no worries. Two days later, rolls around, never heard from him, haven't heard from him since the last, since that the pickleball, and I was like, yeah, no worries.
SPEAKER_02And that's it. That's it, that's the end of the story.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because we were supposed to go out, and he just hasn't said anything, and then he just ghosted.
SPEAKER_02That's annoying. So um, so like how many dates are you at with both? 1.5 and you know okay, cool. You know, you maths hard. Maths hard for the intellectual.
SPEAKER_01Well yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, sounds good.
SPEAKER_01You don't because like I don't know how to measure it. I would say 1.5 or 2.
SPEAKER_02Interesting. Well, I uh honestly at this point I'm confused who's who, but that's alright. I thought one person was another person. Uh okay. Any other updates? What else? What else happened this week?
SPEAKER_01Well, you never you never guessed who was who.
SPEAKER_02Oh, do you want me to say on the live?
SPEAKER_01Oh no, no.
SPEAKER_02So exactly.
SPEAKER_01Just text me.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I'll text you later. Oh, you want me to do it right now? Well, I was saying. Um tell me if this is right. My person is this correct. He's from there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I didn't, I thought he lived somewhere else.
SPEAKER_01Okay, we we gotta cut all this.
SPEAKER_02It's no, I can't do that. I can't do it. I don't have time to cut. Yes, exactly. That's what I thought. Okay, we're good. Um okay, any other updates from the week? There's nothing to be needs to be cut there. There was nothing too revealing.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Langley is gonna be like Does he listen? You might you may as well have just said my name.
SPEAKER_02Do you think he listens to the podcast?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because he'll text me like randomly and he'll be like, like out of the blue. This was was it last week's episode when we were talking about Michael's massage job?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think so.
SPEAKER_01He'll text me and he'll be like, he was like, So what do you think of like having like a picture on the wall? But it's but like say it's really.
SPEAKER_02Is he getting this from the reels, or is he?
SPEAKER_01He's he's getting it, he's getting so we can't clip anything. Okay, yeah, that's fine.
SPEAKER_02We don't clip that. That's fine. Um, speaking of last week's episode, okay. Yes, the sound quality sucked. We had some issues.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02My mic for some reason we recorded the whole thing, and then it came back sounding like a robot. And so, anyway, we were annoyed, but we didn't have time to redo it. And uh, then someone messaged and was like, This is so unprofessional. Like, how could you even like think of doing this like or something? I was like, be more professional. I was like, Do you think we're professionals? Like, we s we do this by ourselves, we're not professionals, we've never claimed to be professionals, but we apologize for the bad audio quality, but it's like people, yeah. Like, we're just kind of doing it for fun. It's like we're out here thinking we're Joe Rogan.
SPEAKER_01And also, no, and it's like it's just the two of us. We're literally like right now, we're on FaceTime, and then we have a camera behind the computer. It's not like we have like these professional like camera crews and like production. It's like, no, we're on FaceTime, and then we have like a like a little digital camera recording.
SPEAKER_02And we have tried so many different tools to try and make this better and make the audio quality better, make the video quality better. So we literally have a separate camera and a different recording system to try and make it the best. And like, it's just kind of what it is when you're doing a remote. So we apologize for the technical issues, but like, come on, people, like we're not out here paying a production crew. Maybe one day we'd love that.
SPEAKER_01But we gotta yeah, maybe, maybe if you guys like keep commenting and liking and following, tell people get really professional and we could get a production crew.
SPEAKER_02Tell other people to listen, then we'll get a professional production crew. We promise.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then we could be more professional, but until then, you're stuck with us like this in my silk horse pajamas.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. All our all our money goes to horses and big trucks to pull those horses. You know?
SPEAKER_01Yep. Amen.
SPEAKER_02Um, my week. I haven't seen Susie since the altercation with her with her like bodyguard. With that little old bodyguard, you kidding me? With her uh professional advisor, aka a freaking real estate agent. Yeah. Um, yeah, I haven't seen her since. And Megan says she has she hasn't been around either, so I'm I'm wondering if they escaped it.
SPEAKER_01Have you guys seen her like zooming in?
SPEAKER_02No, like I'm serious, like I've not even seen her driving around. I'm thinking she escaped and ran to Tony's house because of she's scared of the whole altercation.
SPEAKER_01Do you think that she listens to the podcast?
SPEAKER_02I would love that. I would love that. Because honestly, though, like at this point, I don't care anymore. It's she's gonna do what she's gonna do, but like, why did you send that guy? Like, that's the one thing.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, Yeah, that's real weird.
SPEAKER_02Susie, we can be fine. I've literally said, I will never bother you again. Just don't go fast. That's it. But then you send this guy, and now it's weird between us. Now it's like ultra weird. So, whatever. Um, other than that, a house is coming along. Megan has been doing a great job getting it set up. It looks great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it looks really good.
SPEAKER_02Um it's just I need the packages to stop coming.
SPEAKER_01Like, oh, you sound like Michael.
SPEAKER_02They have we're we're in. We're in the house now. We have everything we need. We gotta stop buying stuff. Like, it's getting bad.
SPEAKER_01What is she buying?
SPEAKER_02Anything and everything.
SPEAKER_01You know? I mean, yeah, she needs it.
SPEAKER_02Does she?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know about that.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, or she wouldn't be buying it.
SPEAKER_02True. True. So annoying. Uh that's that's the only thing. But just waiting for the last couple things to get set up. I'm just like ready for like the only thing that's not ready now is our bedroom. Um, it's kind of like we wanted to get the boys set up first, then we want to get the kitchen, we want to get the playroom. Now we have the guest room set up, ready for you guys coming. And now it's like, all right, last thing, let's freaking get our own stuff set up. So yeah. Almost there. Um I'm trying to think if there's anything else going on at our place. Uh, we're going to the Texas State Fair tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03Oh, that'll be a good one.
SPEAKER_02It's supposed to be super fun. It's supposed to be massive. Like everybody talks about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You seem very enthused.
SPEAKER_01Well, the state fair.
SPEAKER_02It's huge. As soon as I say state fair, you start rawning. You seem like you're very enthused to go.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm just like the state. So, like, does everyone from the state come to that fair?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the this is the Texas State Fair. It is supposed to be huge.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_02I'm excited. It's in Fort Worth.
SPEAKER_01Where are they doing it? Oh, Fort Worth.
SPEAKER_02So it's like a 40-minute drive from us. Not bad.
SPEAKER_01So, but like Texas is massive. So, like, are the people who live like hours and hours and hours away going to that?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. They I they might do other fairs, you know, like different, like the maybe I think I saw this.
SPEAKER_01Like county fairs or something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they do county fairs, but then there's like the East Texas State Fair and like the West Texas State Fair. But like this is the Texas State Fair. What are you doing? No, like this is the big one, like the main one. Oh. So I think people do come from everywhere. But yeah. That'd be good. Uh that'll be fun.
SPEAKER_01The boys will love it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we do that. We're actually going on Sunday. Oof. Yikes.
SPEAKER_01Sinners.
SPEAKER_02Seth. And then you guys come in on Thursday. Are you excited to come?
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited to see my boys. And Megan, of course.
SPEAKER_02Keep going. And who else? You're so annoying.
SPEAKER_01That's really it. Just kidding.
SPEAKER_02You're so annoying. That'll be fun. I um what's your restaurant you're most excited to go to? That we've been that you we've been to here.
SPEAKER_01Um, Mexican sugar and Terry Blacks.
SPEAKER_02Ooh. Did we go to Hutchins with you?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01But you guys talk about Hutchins, but Megan. Megan's like, there are things I like better about Hutchins, and there are things I like better about Terry Blacks. I've only ever been to Terry Blacks.
SPEAKER_02Why would we go to Hutchins? Because it's closer. Terry Blacks is a little bit like a 30 to 40 minute drive. Hutchins is closer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, alright. Well, from last week, we did our little debate, our friendly court. So I thought we'd keep it going. And the topic, I have a couple topics. The first one is when someone says, here's the link to my present, essentially saying, telling you what you should buy them for Christmas or their birthday. What are your thoughts? Agree with that or disagree?
SPEAKER_01It depends on who, because like Shannon will be like, What do you guys want for Christmas? And we will I'll send her like a big notes app of just like random things that I want, and she'll pick like a few off of that notes app. So, like that I get. I would never, if my friend was like, Oh, your birthday's coming up, I'm getting you a present, tell me what you want. I would never be like, here's a link. Get me this present. That just doesn't seem very like tasteful. And I would just be like, oh, you don't need to get me anything. Or like, oh, like you're so nice. Like, don't give me anything or like surprise me. I don't know. Like, but I would never be like, get me this, unless I'm talking to Michael and Shannon. Then I'd be like, mm-hmm, get me this. Speaking of Christmas wishlist, you want to know of the list on for me? A John Deere arena drag tractor.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_01That's what I want.
SPEAKER_02What is truly wrong with you these days?
SPEAKER_01No, like we we don't even have there's not enough time to sit down and like go through the list. Like, but that's what that's what I want.
SPEAKER_02You act like you live on a ranch. Well, you have a massive truck now. You have two horses and a trailer. Yeah. You want a John Deere tractor. You don't live on a ranch.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no. Not just a tractor, an arena drag tractor. Because I want to drag my arena at the barn. They never drag it, and it really bothers me.
SPEAKER_02Like those big massive tractors that come in like smooth out the dirt? Is that what you're talking about?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02What is wrong with you?
SPEAKER_01Again, we don't have the time those things to figure that out. We need to get a professional.
SPEAKER_02Now, if I see a picture in the family chat of you buying a freaking John Deere tractor.
SPEAKER_01I actually don't even know how much they are. I told somebody, I told somebody that I wanted one, and they were like, Do you even know how expensive those are? And I was like, no, I haven't even Googled it. I'm gonna say, right.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let me put in my guess. Those tractors, that the tires are bigger than me. They're massive. So not okay, let's not talk about like the maintenance on that. Insane expensive. I'm gonna say that tractor costs $175,000.
SPEAKER_01Okay. How much is a John Deere tractor with an arena drag attached to drag horse arena? No, hold on.
SPEAKER_02That was your sentence to chat?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I gotta I gotta read.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01How much is a John Deere tractor with an arena drag attached to it?
SPEAKER_02Is this gonna respond? Cutie, this is not sewage for you. You don't even know what the freak it is.
SPEAKER_01Why is it taking so long to transcribe?
SPEAKER_02Probably bad internet.
SPEAKER_01I do have horrible internet here.
SPEAKER_02So I uh 175,000. Okay.
SPEAKER_01175,000? Oh, er.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. Anyway.
SPEAKER_01No, hold on, it wasn't.
SPEAKER_02How much? The way you're biting your teeth, you're like, ooh, that's a big price tag.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02Say it! Holy cow, we're waiting on you.
SPEAKER_01Hold on. He gave me options. Wait, these aren't none of the things that I was thinking. Oh, oh no.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_0128.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_0128,000 to 31,000.
SPEAKER_02That's not even close. I promise that's not close.
SPEAKER_01Hold on.
SPEAKER_02Let me John Deere Tractor.
SPEAKER_01I'm going to John Deere.com.
SPEAKER_02Um dirt at rodeo. That is not the right one. So those things are huge. I use a tree utility tractor like a John Deere 5M is maybe tractors.
SPEAKER_01U all.
SPEAKER_02Let me see. Shopping. No, what the Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Okay. You could get a y you could get a used one for like 60k. A used one.
SPEAKER_01And I'm thinking like this is this is what I see at the You see it?
SPEAKER_02That's what I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_01Wait, this says wait, I am so confused.
SPEAKER_02Alright, we gotta move on. We're spending too much time looking this up.
SPEAKER_01How much is this?
SPEAKER_02Because it says Like this one right here is look at this. A 6M tractor. This one is $2018,000.
SPEAKER_01Are you looking at 6M H 155?
SPEAKER_02I am looking at 6M 155 tractor. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Oh.
SPEAKER_02$218,000.
SPEAKER_01Dang. Yeah, no, I I did not know that they were that expensive. So yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're gonna pay that to smooth out some dirt. Get a freaking rake and go rake it up yourself.
SPEAKER_01That was a fun thought.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, no, I figured out a new plan. So I'm gonna ask for that for Christmas. And then what I'm actually gonna do.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna ask for the tractor?
SPEAKER_01I'm yeah, no, listen. So I'm gonna ask for the tractor for Christmas. And then what I'm gonna do is then like below it, I'm gonna ask for the arena drag attachment that you can hook up to like a four-wheeler or a razor.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_01And those are only like $1,200.
SPEAKER_02What? What's only like $1,200? The attachment?
SPEAKER_01The thing that Yeah, the attachment.
SPEAKER_02But then you have to buy the razor or the four-wheeler.
SPEAKER_01No, we already have the razor.
SPEAKER_02So your dad's gonna take the razor from his house that he uses and go park it at your freaking barn.
SPEAKER_01No, we don't have to park it.
SPEAKER_02So you're gonna take it back and forth just to clean up some dirt?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, you only really need to do it like once or twice a week.
SPEAKER_02You're killing me. This horse stuff, killing me. At this point.
SPEAKER_01Well, because then it obviously the $1,200 they're gonna be like, yeah, we'll get her that. That's a no-brainer.
SPEAKER_02You guys should have taken that 80 uh 80R. Wait, what was that number? 155. Never mind. I can't remember what I was gonna say. But uh, you guys should have taken the oh.
SPEAKER_01Uh what the f am I looking at?
SPEAKER_02One second. Uh you guys should have taken the truck deposit and then your tractor deposit for the 80 something or the one, or no, it's a 155 truck or whatever it is, for the $212,000 one. And then just go buy a ranch. Put a deposit on a ranch instead of buying the truck in the tractor. And you could go.
SPEAKER_01Well, we're not we're not buying the tractor though.
SPEAKER_02Oh okay.
SPEAKER_01But no, I do I do want a ranch.
SPEAKER_02Um how small of a town do you think you could live on live in? Like realistically.
SPEAKER_01Realistically, I think the smallest I could go probably like Hebrew or midway.
SPEAKER_02Which there do you think live in Hebrew? I'm gonna say 50? 50k?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Let's ask.
SPEAKER_02Um I think that's the smallest you could go. And and Hebrew's still pretty close to like Provo. It's not a far drive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no. Um it's like 20 minutes. Oh, Heber City, Utah has a population of 16,856 people.
SPEAKER_0216? That's it. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Oh, but since it's 2026, there's probably about almost 20,000 people.
SPEAKER_02And then Midway, kind of like they're the same in a way. There's not much more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because yeah, they're like Midway's probably a little smaller than Hebrew.
SPEAKER_02So maybe there's like close to 30 to 40k people. So it's really not that small.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I lived in old uh what was it called? Ephraim, Utah. Now that was small. That was small.
SPEAKER_01Because you went to what's that school?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Went there for a year and uh it was small.
SPEAKER_01How the heck do you spell Ephraim?
SPEAKER_02E-P-H-R-A-I-M.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I put a U in there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. E from Utah. How many is it? Um it's literally probably like 5,000 or less, but then like triples when school's in session.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's hold on, it's loading. But 6,393 residents as of July 2025. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_02So it was so small. But I liked it. I I could I could maybe live there, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01This is the problem. With with such small towns, they're so far away, and I like to be close with my family. So that's why I think Well, you didn't even bring that up.
SPEAKER_02We're just talking about where you could live realistically. Let's like what if your family moved there? If your family moved there with you, could you live in a 5,000 people town?
SPEAKER_01Is there like a Harman's?
SPEAKER_02Uh is there a swig? Like uh, no. Efron, maybe a swig. But there was a Walmart.
SPEAKER_01There was You could do a Walmart.
SPEAKER_02There was one other grocery store, but it was pretty small. And then whenever we went to it. And then they were getting a couple new restaurants, but there was only like a couple. There was there wasn't even like a really big chain. I think the biggest chain was McDonald's when I was there.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you don't have any food options.
SPEAKER_01See, that's hard for me because I really hate to cook and I love to go out to eat. So that would be the hardest thing for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was tough. It's like you ate the same restaurant every single time. Yeah, I unless unless and Ephraim, like closest big area, is probably like Payson, which is an hour and a half away.
SPEAKER_01And Payson is not big.
SPEAKER_02Not big. No.
SPEAKER_01It actually is getting really like I could live in Payson if it was 30 minutes closer to Draper and Alpine.
SPEAKER_02Okay, that's great. Thanks for the update.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm just because that's that's a sm that's smaller. Payson is probably smaller than Heber.
SPEAKER_02No, no. For sure. You don't think so? Payson's big.
SPEAKER_01Payson's bigger?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. And also, because Payson, like, if you go from North Ogden all the way to Payson, like it's all connected. Like, there's no like you're not like alone. You know what I mean? Like your town's not separated. Um, because see, Payson, Utah population, yeah, it's 25,000. But then you're also connected to Spanish. So it's a little bit more. You're also connected to like Spanish fork and everything else. But um, anyway, enough about Utah towns. What was our next our next debate?
SPEAKER_01Was um how did we even get on this topic?
SPEAKER_02I have no idea.
SPEAKER_01What was the question?
SPEAKER_02The question was here's the link to my present, and which I'd even answer.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, what was what's your answer?
SPEAKER_02That was a crazy tangent. Um, my answer is I hate I I don't want to say hate that, but I don't love it. I want a to I want to be surprised. Like, I don't like sending a link to be like this would you give me like.
SPEAKER_01Really, what should I get them?
SPEAKER_02Okay, but at the same time, I want to get them something they want. And um, like for Megan, for example, she's a big send me a link, because you all do that. But I don't like that because I usually don't ask her.
SPEAKER_01But then there's been No, but you ask us, it's not like you're just like out in the dark by yourself.
SPEAKER_02The only reason I do that now is because in the past I have bought things and then I thought she would like them, and then turns out she pretends to like them and she hates them. And it's like she just won't be honest and tell me because then I want to just take them back.
SPEAKER_01Well, because she doesn't want to hurt your feelings because she knows it's thought.
SPEAKER_02But I'd rather take them back, you know what I mean? And like get the money back than her just be like, oh thanks, I love it, and then never touch it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, I just like to try and put thought into it, but then she doesn't want that, and so that's what I go ask for you. I go ask you guys. So at least it's kind of like a little better, and I can at least surprise her a little bit until you guys tell her or like spoil it.
SPEAKER_01We don't do that.
SPEAKER_02You you have a couple times, I feel like.
SPEAKER_01What did I spoil?
SPEAKER_02Shways a little curious to make sure I'm getting her something good, and so you guys will kind of like it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, if she if she is a snooper and snoops through my phone, I can't help that.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, I think I see both sides of that one, but I'm more a fan of surprises.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, next one. Watching ahead is a betrayal. So, like if you're watching a show with somebody and you've started together, but then that person goes ahead and watches the rest of the series. Is that betrayal?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you have to you watch it together. Speaking of what are you watching? Um, I had to text Emily back about Lioness. I started Lioness.
SPEAKER_02Well, are you on season one?
SPEAKER_01I finit I finished season one in like two days.
SPEAKER_02What'd you think? What was your reaction?
SPEAKER_01I thought it was good. Like really, like I was like hooked.
SPEAKER_02It does hook you pretty quick.
SPEAKER_01And I a show hasn't hooked me in a long time. Because I don't really, I'm not like a big show watcher unless it's like reality TV. I like reality TV, but like the dramas and like the sitcoms or whatever, like I don't love like scripted shows. And you and Emily have been telling me to watch it for years.
SPEAKER_03It's good.
SPEAKER_01And I finally did, and I was like, okay, wait, this is really good. But I also love like spy military shows and movies.
SPEAKER_02Love that stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Straight from your dad.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I thought it was really good. So I I've seen, I think, like half of the first episode of season two.
SPEAKER_02I don't remember what happens in season one, season two, really, because I don't know. They're so separated. But it's good. It it really hooks you. It's a good series. Um, Emily thinks it's like the best ever. I'm definitely not up to that level. Like it's good, I like it, but it's not best ever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would say in the past like few years, it's the best that I've seen at least.
SPEAKER_02But keep going.
SPEAKER_01Well, because like you guys tried to have me watch the egg show. I can never remember the egg show. Where they like cut the egg, the hard-boiled egg, they like cut it.
SPEAKER_02What, squid games?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01What are you talking about? You also tried to get me to watch that, and I was like, this is weird. It's like the scary one.
SPEAKER_02The sky.
SPEAKER_01Where they're like two different people.
SPEAKER_02Severance? Severance. No, I can never. It's not a scary show, but keep going.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's kind of like a thriller, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02A little trippy. It's not really scary, but keep going.
SPEAKER_01So it's like, you guys tried to get me to watch that. I couldn't get into it. I thought it was so weird and honestly so boring.
SPEAKER_02Okay, can I ask you a question though? Like, how much time do you give the show?
SPEAKER_01I gave it like two episodes, two or three episodes.
SPEAKER_02Okay. That's good.
SPEAKER_01And I was just like, It's so good.
SPEAKER_02So good.
SPEAKER_01Is Severance over?
SPEAKER_02No, I don't think so. I think they're I think they're doing another season.
SPEAKER_01What's up with the eggs? There's they're always like ending the the episode with and they're like cutting an egg.
SPEAKER_02I honestly don't remember that.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Anyway, that's that was my main takeaway is that they're always cutting eggs.
SPEAKER_02Clearly, you weren't paying attention. No, what's actually, you know what? That's true. I have started shows with you, or like maybe we've sat and like started to watch something on the couch, like everyone. And all you do is just get on TikTok and you're like kind of like watching it, not watching it, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if I get bored, I'm out.
SPEAKER_02But it's like you don't give it a chance.
SPEAKER_01No, but I I do. I just get bored.
SPEAKER_02I that bugs me so bad.
SPEAKER_01No, it's like what okay, what show?
SPEAKER_02No, it's like you're want to show someone a show because you love it, and then you get there and they're like, and Megan sometimes does this, and I'm sure I've done it to her too, but it's like, oh, this is good, and you're like just watching TikToks like on your phone. It's like, are you for real right now? Like, just give it a chance, like watch it for a second.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, that's how I felt about you when I told you to watch, or watch, when I told you to read Fourth Wing.
SPEAKER_02I read it.
SPEAKER_01I read the first book, but you didn't read the second one.
SPEAKER_02The second one, it was just like the crazy scene.
SPEAKER_01How did you end the first one and then you like didn't want to find out what happened in the second one?
SPEAKER_02It was like I got to the second one, and I was like, I'm so sick of hearing her stupid inner thoughts about every guy in the room. Like, you know what I mean? It's like, oh, he looks so hot today, blah blah blah blah blah blah. I'm like, okay, I'm good on this. Like, I don't want to hear this every five seconds.
SPEAKER_01She uh she really only said that about Zayden.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and she says it a lot. It's like, I get it.
SPEAKER_01Well, because he have you seen him? He's gorgeous.
SPEAKER_02How would I have seen him? It's a fing book.
SPEAKER_01Well, you can like imagine it in your mind, or like you see a fanfic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not a fanfic.
SPEAKER_01A fanfic.
SPEAKER_02I'm not looking up a fanfic.
SPEAKER_01I'm sometimes okay. Wait, when you close your eyes and imagine things. How do you imagine? Is it like can you picture it fully, or is it like a like a stick drawing? Because like when I close my eyes, it's a stick drawing.
SPEAKER_02A stick drawing?
SPEAKER_01What? Yeah, like I have a really I have a really, really hard time visualizing things.
SPEAKER_02I'm I'm so confused. So like you close your eyes.
SPEAKER_01Okay, close your close your eyes right now. Picture a red apple.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I see you.
SPEAKER_01Are you seeing like a 3D juicy, shiny red apple with a green leaf on the top?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Or are you just seeing like an outline of an apple?
SPEAKER_02Okay, define scene. Because, like you we've talked about this before. And it's like you are literally like trying to look through your eyelids to see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No. Well, because when you close your eyes, you can picture things in my head, not through my eyeballs, through my eyelids.
SPEAKER_01No, okay, it's the same thing. Your eyes are in your head. Yeah, because like like you use your brain and your imagination, but like I have to close my eyes and like because it's like dark, and then I can like kind of I can see the outline.
SPEAKER_02No, that's what I'm okay. But you like in my head, yes, I can picture it in my head. But if I'm like looking through my eyeballs, oh, like in the light, I can maybe put together the outline of an apple. Like there's a difference. So you can't picture an apple in your head. Like right now, I can not close my eyes, but I can picture what an apple looks like in my head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like when I think about it, like an apple, I just like I just see an outline of an apple. I don't see like a red, juicy apple with like a green leaf on it.
SPEAKER_02So how did you know how to describe it with because if you're not imagining that you're just you just know from experience that's what it is, but you can't yeah, because I you can't imagine what that looks like right now in your head. Like if I say, imagine there's an apple downstairs on your parents' kitchen counter. You can't imagine that.
SPEAKER_01I can because I've seen it before.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. That's that's the whole point.
SPEAKER_01No, but in a book, you haven't seen somebody before. So it's like I have to go and be like, okay, somebody used their imagination and close their eyes, and they just they listen to the way she describes Zaydan, and then they bring it to life, and you're like, yes, that's exactly right.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so you can't bring to life like what who that person looks like on your own.
SPEAKER_01No, I I have to like, okay, so like for example, like when I read um okay, what's a what's a good like okay, Avatar. Like, Cassian to me is like Henry Cavill with long hair.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Because like I've seen him before. They kind of have similar features. They're like big. But like I couldn't, I couldn't picture Re-San because I've never seen somebody with violet eyes before who's like the kind of I kind of pictured like Damon from Vampire Diaries, but like six, seven. But like it just like it didn't fit. And so I had to go Google like what does Re-San look like? And then when I saw some fan pictures, I was like, okay, yes, that's what he looks like. And now anytime I see Re-Sand, I can like picture it in my head now because I've seen it.
SPEAKER_02So who are you picturing in your smut books?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what we're talking about.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what that is. How's I supposed to know that's a smut book? Like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, didn't I just say when I read Aquatar?
SPEAKER_02Do you think I know what Aquatar is?
SPEAKER_01A Court of Thorns and Roses. Honestly, you should read it. No, what you need to read is Throne of Glass. Taylor, who absolutely hated Fourth Wing, he said it was like a fourth grade, a horny fourth grader wrote it.
SPEAKER_02Very true.
SPEAKER_01Fourth grade might be a little too young.
SPEAKER_02Like a horny is kind of nuts.
SPEAKER_0112th grader wrote it. Um but he said Throne of Glass is master.
SPEAKER_02You've told me this like five times. I got it.
SPEAKER_01You need to read it. And you don't like smut. There's no there's no smut at all in Throne of Glass. It's just weird for me to read smut, but yeah, there's no smut in it, so you don't need to worry.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um the only I think there's like one scene or two, and there it's not until the very last books. Fantastic.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna read it, probably. But what you should watch is Ted Lasso, because that is what I've been watching. No Ted Lasso.
SPEAKER_01No, that is so bad.
SPEAKER_02Ted Lasso is the greatest show of all time.
SPEAKER_01Better than The Office? Because you love that's what you say about The Office.
SPEAKER_02It's getting there. Like, I love it. I love it.
SPEAKER_01Michael cried at the ending scene, and even when he still describes the ending scene to Ted Lasso when they're like playing darts or pool or something or the two, I can't remember which one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's not the ending scene. Oh, whatever. See, I don't know. When he describes that scene where they're playing darts or pool and he's like talking, I don't even remember what he's talking about. Michael cries without fail every time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I love that show. Like this season was a little different because they he coaches the women's team now.
SPEAKER_01Wait, it's still going. I thought it ended.
SPEAKER_02They brought it back. Um, but he came back to coach the women's team because they are start they started a women's same like anyway, same club management, but women's as well.
SPEAKER_01And it's so women's soccer.
SPEAKER_02And at the beginning it was tough because like I missed the ri original guys and I the original teammates and stuff.
SPEAKER_01But but is it the original text?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, of course. Um but it's it's still really good, and like I love his little speeches that he has, they're the best. Um, you need to watch it, it's very uplifting. Uh what else am I? Oh, also Can you hear her talking about? I mean, I don't think I can hear on the mic. I can just hear it from FaceTime. But um what else have I been watching? I've been watching Mobland. That one just started. That's another good one.
SPEAKER_01Is it about the mafia?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You should watch it. Do you like uh Hardy? Is his name Ted Hardy? Tom Hardy Hardy. He's in it.
SPEAKER_01I do, I love him. Um okay. Well, you know that I love my mafia books.
SPEAKER_02You might like this.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll give that one a shot.
SPEAKER_02That one is good. It's really good.
SPEAKER_01Uh is there a love story with Tom Hardy? Is it like epic?
SPEAKER_02I can't remember the first season. I think I'm not sure. But it's good. It's really good. You should watch it.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's on Paramount. Um, alright, what else from that? Nothing there. Um also another thing that's been going on that I'm just starting to get into now, which is it's so tough, is little kid sports. Dean has starting to play soccer.
SPEAKER_01And are you becoming um a sports dad?
SPEAKER_02Like, it's tough. Because my family was so intense about sports. Like everything. Like, I didn't like for example, in in school I'd uh I would get in trouble for grades, but like I don't know. I would get more in trouble for like a basketball game than I would for other things. You know what I mean? And uh and like after my games growing up, would like come home and we'd watch the film over. Um, I'd have like certain things I have to do every day, starting as like as little as I can remember. Yeah, and it's like but I hated basketball, and my family knows that. I hated basketball growing up, up until I was in probably ninth grade, eighth grade, that I started to get good, and so it was more fun. But up until then, I just like I always wanted to be a football player, and so I'm like very ultra, I think we've maybe we've talked about this, kind of ultra sensitive to it, where I don't want to like be forceful, but at the same time, it's like so Dean has been playing some soccer, and so I before this season, I haven't been the best of like practicing with him because he's never showed any interest in it, but also it's because like yeah, I haven't gave him maybe like taught him, so he doesn't really know interest in it. And and so like I it's like he doesn't focus on the game. Yeah, he gets distracted, and he just like looks around, and so then and like kids on his team, like based coming from Charlottesville to Dallas, like the difference is insane. The kids are way better than in Charlottesville, Virginia, it's competitive, and like so much more organized and everything else, and so it's like all right, so like he needs to practice, and so what we've been doing is before work, I will wake up, wake them up early after my workout, and then we go and do workout of our own uh before I leave. Because I always don't, I mean, sometimes it's tough to do it at night, and so yeah, anyway, today we had he had a game, and I was like, alright, alright, like I can't get mad at him. And I like feel the little coach coming on, you know.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_02Trying to avoid it, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I just think I just think it's like natural. Like, even I know nothing about basketball. I went to Canon's basketball game yesterday. Your friend was the ref. And I loved him.
SPEAKER_03Avery.
SPEAKER_01I don't know his name, but I loved him. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like he was like, anytime they were like on our half of the court, I could like hear him, and he was like not like commentating or coaching, but he was just like really encouraging to the players, and he was like, good defense, good defense, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, go to the drive all the way to the hoop. Like he was just like, Yeah, yeah, like for both teams, like cute, and like no, because I left early. But um, like during the game, I was like, I was like, Dad, do you hear this guy? Like, I love him, like it's so cute. And like this one guy fell and he like tripped or something, it wasn't a foul or anything, but he tripped and then he like turned the ball over, so everybody else went running to the other hoop, and he was like, get up, get up, come on, let's go, let's go! And he like stayed down there, like helping the kid up and whatever. And he was like, Yeah, that's Zach's friend. Like, and I was like, Oh, I didn't know that. Anyway, um, I don't remember where I was going with that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, how are you still getting even into the game, even though you know nothing?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I know nothing, and I'm sitting on the sideline, and it's not even my kid, it's my nephew. I mean, I feel like he's my kid, but he's not my kid, and I am like squeezing Shannon's leg. I'm like, oh my gosh, like, come on, Canon. Like, and Canon has this bad habit of shooting from the three-pointer line, like 27 feet off the line. I'm like, Canon, get closer to the line. Like you're at half courts.
SPEAKER_03I know.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, by like the fourth shot, and somehow it like half the time it goes in, half the time it doesn't. But I was like, Canon, like get closer to the line. Like I was like, so even like it just like is natural. Like when because it's like you love them so much, you want them to do good, you want them to be successful.
SPEAKER_02My it's just natural. My thing is just, I mean, yes, it's an insane conversation when he's four, but I just want him to try hard. You know what I mean? Like, I don't really care about all the other stuff. I just want him to try hard. And when it's like he's kind of zones out and like looks around, and I'm like, dude, like pay attention to the freaking game. Like, like, yeah, he'll just kind of like start jogging next to everybody, not really paying attention. Starts jogging the other way. I'm like, Dean, just try and kick the ball. At least try and kick the ball. Like, please, further love, he's just jogging. I'm like, oh my gosh. And then, like, there's one time they're trying, like, doing a corner kick. He's faced the other way, looking around. And I'm like, the ball's over there, Dean. Look at the ball. And so that is drove me nuts.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But we'll keep working with them. My goal is to just try and make it more fun.
SPEAKER_01Just wait till he starts, wait till he starts basketball. Cause like, you know, basketball.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wait till he starts basketball.
SPEAKER_02I just I don't know what I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_01I uh you're gonna be his coach. You're gonna do workouts with him just like Taylor does workouts with Canon and Gray.
SPEAKER_02I just want him to find something, like, problem is I want him to find something he likes, so then we can like obviously four, like I get that, but I think he likes baseball a lot, which interesting enough. So I was like, I mean, yeah, I do some more of that. But no, my goal is just to every morning wake him up. Also, my goal is to do that so they go to bed earlier. Freak heck, a kid does not go to bed, so wake him up earlier, get him more tired during the day, do like a quick little 20-30-minute workout with them before I go to work, and then see if you know, see if that helps. But yes, it's freaking intense here, so much more intense.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, Texas get after it.
SPEAKER_01They especially football.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01They do not mess around with their sports.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if I'm ready for the football. Like, I want I think Dean would be good at it because he just loves to freaking hit people. But yeah, he he loves to be very physical, like yeah, uh, but like I just can't like put a helmet on like an eight-year-old and like have him go running. Like, that's crazy to me. Like, I think that's nuts.
SPEAKER_01Well, do they do they do sevens there?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like short smaller teams.
SPEAKER_01Cause you could you could have him do flag and then sevens. Because like that's what all the kids here do on the offseason, like in the spring, they do sevens.
SPEAKER_02Like, what the hell is sevens? Like, you mean like seven people on the field, like smaller teams?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's no helmet, no pads, it's touch.
SPEAKER_02Oh, no, they do here it's like you do flag and then up until I think hi.
SPEAKER_01I'm wearing I'm wearing your gift.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Okay. Wait, how much longer is I was gonna lay down?
SPEAKER_01Like, no, I I get saved right. Go lay down.
SPEAKER_02Like 10 more minutes. We're good.
SPEAKER_01Like 15.
SPEAKER_02So anyway. I don't know. I just uh wow, that is so fantastic.
SPEAKER_01I'm still waiting for my slides. Oh, she's waiting for her slides.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'll do that.
SPEAKER_01Get on it.
SPEAKER_02Um anyway, Dean. We'll see. I uh I don't know. It's tough.
SPEAKER_01Canon and Isla were like that too. They they were on a soccer team together because it's like I just feel like that's what everyone does because that I feel like that's the youngest sport is soccer. And Isla was laying in the grass half the time, like doing cartwheels and somersaults. Canon was into it a little bit more, but then he'd see Isla over there and he'd be like, Ila, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's just yeah, I gotta be patient. I gotta be patient. Um all right, we did not have any judge and jury, except for, I guess this could be judge and jury, but it's more for us. This one someone wrote in. Oh boy. Someone wrote in.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy.
SPEAKER_02And said, I don't, it was freaking long, so I'm not gonna read it. But it was like basically, how do Amy and Zach allow Zach? I mean Amy, sorry, Amy and Megan allow Zach to speak about his uh your sisters the way he does. Like Emily and Rachel because they say I'm very, very rude towards them and always make little snarky remarks um about them. Okay you know what this came this is. You know what this came from? Sorry, really quick. This came from when they said this, it came from when I said I got the best one out of the three. Like, what am I supposed to say? I wish I married Amy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like I would hope that all of the husbands would say, I got the best one out of the three. I hope my husband says I got the best one out of the three. I don't think that's that.
SPEAKER_02What do you want your husband to say like you got the best one out of everybody?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like that doesn't even make sense. I don't I don't find that offensive at all. And this is the thing about my family. We have like a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor, and we're not very like mushy gushy, touchy, lovey, feely unless we're we're that way with the children. Yes, we're not that way with each other with each other, like half the time Rachel. I call Rachel, she answers the phone, and I'm like, hey bitch, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And I like I use like I call you that. You know, it's funny. So I like you call me that, you flip me off. I anyway, like we just that's just the way it is.
SPEAKER_00It's just like it's a it's a it's like a sign of love.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and then I'll you know, I've call you the B word some, you know, like you call me that. It's just what it is, it's just for joke. I call Emily that too. One time I use that on someone else, like that's very very close to my family. I won't say who. Yeah, they literally almost lost it, were so offended that I said that word.
SPEAKER_00Who was it?
SPEAKER_02Um, I'll tell you after, but and they were like wanted to call their husband over to like get mad at me for saying it, and I was like, okay, chill, like, relax. It's just a joke, and then Megan like explained, like, I use it with you guys and everything, so it's kind of like I don't use it that same way, it's very loose. Um, but anyway, the things, yeah, we're very dry, sarcastic. And I feel like yeah, so like that's our relationship.
SPEAKER_01When Drew, like when Drew talks about me and Emily, 95% of the time he's calling us crazy beans. He he's either referring to me as crazy beans, or now that I'm like into horses and like buying all this stuff, it's now whisk. I'm a whisk. And like it's just like I don't know, that's just the way you guys are like that's your love language, and I mean I'm the same way.
SPEAKER_02Like if I like someone, like if I'm if I like someone, I joke around with them more and love to like poke fun. If I don't like you, I don't do that.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, Drew's nickname sometimes is Drewch.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, actually, I should never call them that, but um, that's just the way it is.
SPEAKER_01And like it's just it's really, it's really not that deep, but I think a lot of people deep it, and it's just like not that deep. And I get it because like our family dynamic is different. Like, like, for example, I call Michael and Shannon Michael and Shannon, and like somebody was like, You like, even when you're talking to me about them, like, can you just call them mom and dad?
SPEAKER_02Someone said that's you? Don't were you like shut the freak up? That's my mom and dad, I can do whatever I want.
SPEAKER_01No, I was just like, why? And then they were like, I don't know, because it's just like so bizarre for me to hear. So it's just like I understand that like family dynamics are different, and like we are not the norm, but like it's our family, so STFU.
SPEAKER_02And I think, and also I know that this is just because I love to like ruffle feathers, like I know people think I hate Emily and Rachel with like a passion.
SPEAKER_01So you put you play it up a little bit.
SPEAKER_02I love to play it up, and it's like yeah, you're a rage brother. I am, and I love to play it up. I love to get people ruffled up, you know, kind of all freaking out that like I hate them so bad. Like, it's not true. And yeah, why would I like especially like Emily? Why would have I freaking started the podcast originally with her if I hated her so bad? And like all this stuff. It's like I just love to play it up, and that's also our relationship of like judging with each other.
SPEAKER_01I think people think that like you fired Emily. No, and just to set their record straight, which I feel like we have in the past, but I keep seeing comments of like, so is Emily just like permanently off. Yeah, because she removed herself, she fired herself, she didn't want to do it.
SPEAKER_02She's been doing the design thing a lot more, so she didn't have much time.
SPEAKER_01Like she has her kids, like yeah, yeah, she's just like, I'll pop on every once in a while, and like other than that, I don't want to be on it.
SPEAKER_02It was just too much week to week to like always do it, and also like lining up schedules and everything is so tough.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, that lit But even like can in Canon's basketball game like two days ago, Rachel was there and Canon like turned turned the ball over. Wait, so does that mean he got he got the steal or somebody stole it from?
SPEAKER_02Someone stole from him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, somebody stole from him, and Rachel was like, Canon, and like you're like you're on the court on in those games.
SPEAKER_02Like tiny.
SPEAKER_01You guys, you guys can hear each other. And he was running back and he was already so mad that he turned the ball over because he like really kind of like yeah, you get mad when you turn the ball over. Puts pressure, yeah, yeah. You're just like, hello. And Rachel was like, oh Canon, like, don't turn the ball over. And he was like, Shut up, Rachel! Like and there, there were moms that were like, I cannot believe that her nephew would say that to her. And like Rachel's like, I can't wait to watch Canon in his game tonight. I can't wait for him to tell me to shut up again. Like, so it's just like we don't deep it, like it's not that deep.
SPEAKER_02It's very different.
SPEAKER_01People, yeah, people like it's just it's a joke. Life is too short, it's a joke.
SPEAKER_02You guys, it's definitely an adjustment. It's been an adjustment. I feel like I've adjusted at the by this. It took me, you know, almost seven years. But yeah, you guys just say whatever's on your mind, and uh, you don't like ever filter anything, and you have to learn that whatever you say isn't really serious. Like you'll say crazy stuff, and five seconds later it's like, wait, I said that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we do we do kind of have like we fight hard and we love hard, and we have like the memories of goldfish, so it's like we fight hard, and then it's like, wait, what? What were we even fighting?
SPEAKER_02Me with Emily and Rachel, like I just love to give them crap back because I like to, I don't like it's like they get away with some stuff, like you know what I mean, sometimes. And so like I I like to like calm out on it. Like, that's just kind of our relationship because I love to like rough, I love to ruffle their feathers and like get them heated up.
SPEAKER_01And and in turn, they love to ruffle your feathers. It's a it's a two-way show, it's not like he's just like sitting there like poking the bear. It's they do it to each other.
SPEAKER_02Emily loves to get me going.
SPEAKER_01Loves yeah, and you know who loves it the most when Emily gets you going is Coach.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know. My freaking dad love always tells Rachel Great job getting Zach going. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01He loves that, and I love that he loves it because he I I think he is like nobody like gives it.
SPEAKER_02Back to the like he can dish it when we say coach, coach is my dad for people who don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but yes, he loves it because I love to talk crap and like make fun of people and all that stuff, and always yeah, you're a chirp. And then he knows that I'm not the best at taking it, and so he loves to see me get all you know, because get all I think I think he loves it when like me, Megan, Emily, and Rachel all kind of like gang up on you.
SPEAKER_01I think he loves it, and then he'll like kind of jump in with us, pisses me off, and then we give him all the attention and he loves it.
SPEAKER_02Of course he does. So annoying.
SPEAKER_01I love him.
SPEAKER_02Oh, of course, of course.
SPEAKER_01Well, uh oh, speaking of coach, I need to text Diane. I have my first race coming in.
SPEAKER_02When? And what what race is this?
SPEAKER_01A barrel race.
SPEAKER_02And how fast are you gonna go?
SPEAKER_01I was with my trainer yesterday. I went the fastest I had ever gone. I just like I was with Fabby because Doc is out for like another week or two. I was on Fabby and I hauled her up to South Jordan and she was like, okay, I she was like, I feel like you get in your head a lot, you overthink, and you're trying to do everything perfect. She's like, I just want to see her go. Like, don't like kind of just sit there and hang on and just like, she's like, if you don't want to push her faster, don't push her faster, but don't hold her back. Because Fabia is my pushhorse. So like she challenges me. Like, she wants to go fast and I'm holding her back. Where Doc is the opposite, I really have to push him. And so she's like, just put your hand forward and let her go. Just like let her go the speed she wants to go. Don't hold her back. And she's like, if you want to throw in a couple kisses to make her go faster, throw in some kisses, but like she's like, you don't have to kick her. So I did it fast as I had ever gone. I don't we didn't, we didn't film it, so I don't know how fast it was. Probably like 17 or 18 seconds.
SPEAKER_0217 or 18? Stop. You were flying in. 17 or 18 is like how fast I go with the actual rodeo.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no. Because we were in a smaller arena.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_01And so the pattern size is a little smaller. We weren't on like a standard or anything.
SPEAKER_02Um but you were actually running.
SPEAKER_01But yes, I I just like let her run. And Kelsey, my trainer, was like, okay, we're entering you in a race. You're gonna do exactly that. And like, she was like, You just you just don't have enough confidence in yourself. She's like, You're a good writer. She's like, I get you're scared to go faster, but you just need to do it.
SPEAKER_02There you go. Nice show up.
SPEAKER_01So I need to text Diane because if she can come, I'd love for her to come back.
SPEAKER_02She would love to go. So text her. And Diane is my mom for people who don't know. And yes, I actually do call my parents Dick and Diane as well. So I guess.
SPEAKER_01Coach.
SPEAKER_02I don't call him coach. I call him Dick. So I call him coach and I guess it's just a younger si like the youngest sibling thing. Call your parents by their first names. Anyway. Um, anything else before we end the pod? If not, I'll talk. I don't think so. I'll talk to you on Thursday because we don't really talk much in between.
SPEAKER_01Are you like so excited to have us come?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01Are you drilling it?
SPEAKER_02That'll be fun. That'll be a good time. I'm excited. We'll go to the football game, uh, Dean Soccer game. We we great.
SPEAKER_01You want to know what I'm not excited for? So it's like fall here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like it's like No, no, it's not cold here.
SPEAKER_01Megan was like, it's 95 degrees.
SPEAKER_02Dad was cooking today.
SPEAKER_01So I'm not excited to like shift back into summer because right now I'm in fall. But when are you and I like I want to wear fall clothes?
SPEAKER_02When you get here, it's gonna be Thursday's gonna be raining, so it's gonna be 80. Friday it'll be raining 80. Saturday raining 76, Sunday 75, Monday 65.
SPEAKER_01Which means it's gonna be even more humid than wait.
SPEAKER_02That is nuts. Wow, you're hitting the perfect time because this week leading up to it, today 94, tomorrow 92, Monday 93, Tuesday 90.
SPEAKER_03Like hot.
SPEAKER_02Like, that's the tough part for me with Texas so far. Is there's no breaks. Like, it has been hot all the time. It never lets up, and it doesn't let up at night either. You know what I mean? Like, it's still 90 degrees at night, and so you never get away from it.
SPEAKER_01So do you guys even get like a fall?
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, it's about to hit. So, like a starting next week kind of thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it's still like 80 degrees.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's like cool.
SPEAKER_01Like here, the the the other day here, it was like 65 and it was amazing. Yeah, no, it's not gonna get that cold.
SPEAKER_02I heard in November, December it'll maybe get down to like 50s and 40s a little bit.
SPEAKER_01Well, when when we were there, was it December when we went for the Texas Tech BYU game?
SPEAKER_02Maybe last year.
SPEAKER_01Were you there with us? Oh.
SPEAKER_02But keep going.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, I don't remember. It was, I think it was December. It was freezing. Yeah, I mean And it's not like there was snow on the ground, like it wasn't snowing, but it was bone chilling cold because of the heat.
SPEAKER_02Humidity makes it so much worse. Like in Virginia, when it gets cold, it's it was brutal. Same with Rhode Island, so cold.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm not excited for that.
SPEAKER_02But it's gonna be a good time. Whatever. Well, it's no, it's gonna be hot when you're here, so it's not gonna be that. Um okay. Well, do you want to sign us off? Are you kidding me? Can you pay attention for two seconds?
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I just I'm gagging. I'm gagging, I'm gagging, I'm gagging. We have well, I can't say I'll say it when we okay.
SPEAKER_02So thank you for it. You couldn't wait five seconds.
SPEAKER_01Sorry.
