SPEAKER_02

Welcome to episode 21 of Legally Friends. On this episode, we're going to be talking a lot about some very personal problems with both of us, which is kind of interesting. Shannon makes a nice surprise appearance, and that gets pretty wild. So stay tuned for that one. We also talk about Amy's horse situation, where I guess she's just saying adios to old Brazil. And that is a Portuguese word.

SPEAKER_00

For good reason.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. And then also we're going to talk about Zach's aka me. My moving problems, drama, and all of the above. So let's get into it.

SPEAKER_00

So buckle down.

SPEAKER_01

We didn't bet each other, but the wedding made it so. Now we're stuck together with nowhere else to go. So this is legally friends. We're in-laws filled a family tea. Legally friends, y'all related to us. Legally.

SPEAKER_02

Talk about we always do it at the beginning, but we can give them a little summary so they understand what's coming.

SPEAKER_00

Well, maybe they want it to be a surprise.

SPEAKER_02

I mean.

SPEAKER_00

Because do we even really know what's coming?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_02

You idiot. That's why we want to do it at the end. So we know what happened during the podcast, so we can tell them at the beginning.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I'm dead.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, um you look rough today.

SPEAKER_00

No, I look disgusting.

SPEAKER_02

Tough day at the office.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I just was riding my horse. Oh, I have a horse update. Did you hear?

SPEAKER_02

Right into it. What's the horse update?

SPEAKER_00

So I bought a horse last week. Sent it back this week.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, what?

SPEAKER_00

I'm devastated.

SPEAKER_02

You're like, are you kidding right now?

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm not kidding. We took it back. My trainer and I took it back um on Tuesday. No, once you know, Tuesday morning we took it back. I'm not ruthless.

SPEAKER_02

This is horse so much. This is like, oh I love it.

SPEAKER_00

And I still love him.

SPEAKER_02

Shipped him back.

SPEAKER_00

This is the thing. He was lame. Which, for those who don't know what that means, it means that essentially one of his legs was injured, and we didn't know that until we went and picked him up. And we were like, uh he's he's like limping.

SPEAKER_02

But you rode him.

SPEAKER_00

No, I I never rode him. Like, I never rode him when he was at my barn. I rode him three times, like two weeks before. And in those two weeks, something happened where he got hurt. And so this poor 16 year old, she's literally 16 years old trying to sell this horse. And she was like, uh, yeah, I think it's just because it's really rocky, which can affect how they walk. I'll give her that. But we, I was like, no, like he can barely walk. Like it's more than just the rocks. So then we decided to do a buyback contract. And that is, I take him for a week, try to see if it really was just like a stone bruise or if it was because of the rocks. And if that was the case, then I would have kept him. But I had a vet come look at him again on Tuesday. And the vet literally was like, Sorry, do you want this to be a pasture pet? Or like, what are you looking for? And I said, No, I want to run barrels. And he said, Where's your trailer? Go load him up right now. This is not a barrel horse. Like he was like, He'll never, he'll never be a barrel horse again because he's just lame. Like he he's he's older, he's 15. And he was like, I can do x-rays to figure out like really what's going on here. But he was like, This is more than just like stone bruising.

SPEAKER_02

This is a terrible comment, but like, is this where the saying comes, like, take a behind the barn?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, Zach. That was a big thing.

SPEAKER_02

But like you're saying he's lame, like, right.

SPEAKER_00

It can, it can just like, yeah, he's just, I don't know. I I don't even really understand it myself, but my vet was like, for what you're wanting to do and what you're spending on this horse, like, no.

SPEAKER_02

That's really sad. Poor guy.

SPEAKER_00

So I took him back and I cried.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she did.

SPEAKER_00

I really did. And my trainer was like, it's gonna be okay, sweetie.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's kind of sad.

SPEAKER_00

You are so sad.

SPEAKER_02

We were getting like 10 pictures of this horse in the family chat a day.

SPEAKER_00

No, like I truly love him, and he is such a sweet horse. Like, he just wants to be loved so bad. And I was like, I don't want to give him back just because like I want to love him.

SPEAKER_02

So, what was the name that you settled on? Because so many people were commenting with names and sending names at ideas. My favorite, actually, a couple people said chap. That would have been good because it would have matched your chap to my yeah, that would have been cute.

SPEAKER_00

I was leaning more towards Gus.

SPEAKER_02

That is terrible, but which whatever.

SPEAKER_00

He's just like he was just like a sweetie Gus. Kind of like an old, like kind of like an older guy who's just like very gentle. Anyway, but yeah, so I no longer have a horse, unfortunately. But I just the reason why I look like this is because I just had a lesson and I didn't want to do my makeup, so I didn't. And I think I have like dirt like caked on my face because it was so windy, but whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Um, well, that was quite the horse update. I did not expect that. I didn't know that. Did that just happen like today or yesterday?

SPEAKER_00

No, on Tuesday.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, that's shocking.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I guess the horse search continues.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's continuing. I'm actually texting this other girl, but she wants a hefty price for her horse, and I'm like, like what? 30k.

SPEAKER_02

Whoa, that is a hefty price.

SPEAKER_00

No, like you don't even get it. Like, some of these people, what they're asking for these horses, I'm like, are you okay?

SPEAKER_02

Like that is insane.

SPEAKER_00

I can't and some horses, some horses legit are worth a million dollars, but some horses are definitely not worth that.

SPEAKER_02

Why is this worth $30,000?

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's the question. Because so a lot of it comes from their bloodlines, who their parents and grandparents and whatever, it's like sire, damn, whatever. You but you you don't understand the horse talk.

SPEAKER_02

Nepatition.

SPEAKER_00

So a lot of it comes from where they came from. And then also, like for barrels or roping or anything rodeo, if you have made money, if the horse has made money and they have like a good season or whatever, that can jack up the price too. But where like this horse that she wants 30k for it, his papers are decent. He's he's a rope horse, he's done okay rope doing roping, and they just barely started patterning him on barrels and poles. So it's not like he even has like the checks behind his name to back him up for the price. And so I'm just like, why are you asking 30k for this horse?

SPEAKER_02

I like, is do you think there's people that have a little business of they'll have a horse, they'll go take it to some races or something, it wins, and then they just sell it because it won money. Because it ups the price.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, a lot of people do that. Some people um like that's where a lot of like buying happens is you go to jackpots, you see a horse, you like it.

SPEAKER_02

Why don't you do that?

SPEAKER_00

And then and then you kind of talk, and I mean, I don't know, because my trainer just just she just knows she well, she knows all these people who are going to the jackpots anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Go watch the jackpots, go with Shannon, the winner, whoever wins the jackpot, hunt them down, and then Shannon will buy that horse. Well, because she wants you to win.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't I don't need like a crazy 1D horse, but yes.

SPEAKER_02

It's an idea.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's an idea, but yeah, a lot of people will buy horses that are like worth they'll buy them for like 500 bucks, a thousand bucks. They'll train them, taking them jackpots, take them to jackpots, get them like really dialed in, get them finished, is what they call. They call it finish, is when it's just like a point shook type of thing. And then they'll turn it around and sell it for 20 or 30k.

SPEAKER_02

That's wild. Yeah, it's quite the business. I did not know that was how the selling or the horse world was functioning. Interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, yep.

SPEAKER_02

Learn something new every day.

SPEAKER_00

You learn something new.

SPEAKER_02

Anything else?

SPEAKER_00

Speaking of, yeah, I have I have more updates. So speaking of Tuesday, so after I took my horse back, it was so sad. This is like TMI, but then later that day, I got an IUD put in. And because I'm such a baby, I got put out for my IUD.

SPEAKER_02

You are a baby.

SPEAKER_00

Because no, here's a hear me out, okay?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I have no, I can't speak on this. I am a boy. I was just kidding. That's all.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, listen. They sedate men when they get a vasectomy. Getting an IUD is more invasive and painful for girls than a boy getting a vasectomy. You know, I'm gonna stay away from these because people everybody, everyone's just like, oh, an IUD, yeah, like you don't need to be. It's like, no, no. If you're gonna sedate men for the vasectomy, you can sedate the women when they get IUDs because it is so painful.

SPEAKER_02

For a vasectomy, don't they have to cut you open?

SPEAKER_00

They just like do like a little snip. I mean, would you like something this big shoved up inside of you?

SPEAKER_02

This is an insane conversation. Why I don't okay. This is what happens all the time with this the Skala family. For some reason, if you're a guy sitting in the room and all the sisters all of a sudden get on a little topic like this, they come at you like I never said anything. I didn't say you're it wasn't painful. It's all of a sudden you're coming at me like I said something.

SPEAKER_00

No, you want to know.

SPEAKER_02

Like, no, I would not want that shovel up in me. I get it.

SPEAKER_00

And you don't, and you don't have to, because you have this thing called male privilege. Okay, there's like there's pretty privilege, like, yeah, we have pretty privilege, whatever. I mean, I don't have pretty privilege right now, but it's fine. But male privilege is a real thing. If men had to go through even like a quarter of the things that girls had to go through, it would be magically solved. They would find a cure for it, it wouldn't be understudied. It would nothing would, everything would have an answer.
